Overview

UltraRare Bio is a decentralized-science media and research team that produces two foundational resources for the community: the DeSci Wiki — a directory of 80+ DeSci projects, DAOs and communities — and the UltraRare Podcast covering developments across the ecosystem.

The DeSci Wiki is curated by Jocelynn Pearl, Ph.D., with the Decentralized Science Landscape figure created by the UltraRare Bio team including Dani Bergev and Katie Koczera. It is community-maintained and updated roughly weekly, serving as a primary reference directory for the DeSci movement.

The DeSci Wiki

The DeSci Wiki catalogs the ecosystem across categories including DeSci DAOs, decentralized science platforms, science NFTs, decentralized biotech and biopharma, decentralized finance for science, focused research institutes, and social communities. It also tracks the DeSci landscape through a regularly updated visual map spanning financing, ecosystems, data storage and protocols, open science, science art/NFTs and communities.

The wiki has been a key resource for tracking which projects are active, which have wound down, and how the ecosystem is evolving.

Place in the ecosystem

UltraRare Bio is not itself a DAO — it is the movement's discovery layer. A field of hundreds of small, fast-moving DAOs is only navigable if someone keeps a neutral, current map of who exists and who has shut down, and that map is what routes new funders, scientists and contributors to the right project. It complements the funding-and-tokenization stack (Bio Protocol, Molecule): curation media answers "what is out there," while the launchpad and IP-NFT layers answer "how do you fund and own it."
