The short version
A caper is an organization anyone can launch in a single transaction. It arrives with three permanent parts: its own token, a treasury, and a market where anyone can buy in or sell out. The people holding the token decide what the treasury does. Caper is the platform those organizations are launched and governed on.
What is a caperIn two phases, and the second one is the market. Members first rank the options on a ballot — one option is always to do nothing — and a proposal has to carry that ranking before it goes any further. It then gets a market window, and it passes only if the average price across that window finishes at or above the average it carried going in. Holding through the window is consent and buying is support; selling is the veto. The people carrying the cost of a decision are the ones who settle it.
ProposalsAt any time, and without asking anyone. Trading in a caper accrues a stake token that cannot be transferred — it only records that you traded. Hand it back along with your governance tokens and you receive your share of the treasury. It is not a proposal and there is no waiting period, and the door opens on your first buy rather than on any act of governance.
The exit rightNo allocation. Nothing is pre-mined and no founder bucket is set aside at launch: a slice of each purchase routes to the founder as the caper sells, and that slice shrinks to nothing as the token distributes. A founder's upside comes from the caper growing, because there is no allocation to sell into it.
Raising fundsA caper is a DAO in the strict sense — a treasury, on-chain execution, holders who decide — but it bundles into one contract what most DAOs assemble from separate parts: the token launch, the market, treasury custody, the decision procedure and the execution layer. It also replaces the part that fails most often. Instead of a ballot almost nobody returns, the decision rides the market that is already pricing the treasury.
What is a DAONo. A caper is the smallest workable unit of an institution, so it fits a business, a charity, a research group, a band — or one person. A personal caper gives an individual what institutions have always had and people have not: a treasury, backers with a stake in the outcome, a public record of what was decided, and a standing exit for anyone who wants out.
